DR. DIANA ATWINE VISITS MBARARA DISTRICT ON COVID19 RISK MITIGATION ASSESSMENT

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine today visited, inspected and approved Rwentanga Farm Institute in Mbarara district as a Quarantine Centre for Covid -19 suspects. For a start, the Ministry committed to provide 10 mattresses, 10 blankets, 10 pairs of bedsheets, cleaning disinfectants, medical protective masks, hand sanitizers and mobilise food for the suspects in quarantine. The PS appreciated medical teams and advocated for more sensitization of the masses. She pointed out that the districts of Mbarara, Isingiro, Ntungamo, Kabale, Rakai and Kyotera are high risk and her purpose of the visit is to assess the boarders and see how to mitigate the risks.
The PS also inspected Covid -19 Isolation Unit under construction at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH). For the meantime, MRRH has already set up a place for Covid -19 suspects isolation as they await construction of the Unit to be completed.
